2021

For those uninitiated, Inktober is a drawing challenge created by the illustrator and comic book artist Jake Parker. Each October, artists from around the world post daily drawings they created from a daily prompt. I had been hearing about it for years before I actually got the courage to jump into the challenge myself. The following are my past years of the Inktober challenge. Enjoy!

Having two years of Inktober under my belt I thought I would bend the challenge to work for me. I had been wanting to explore comic art and so I sent the challenge that I would be creating one stand alone comic page every day of October. It was one heck of a month that saw me struggle and push up against my comfort zone some of these are not my best,  but I was really pleased with the end result. Proof that I could come up with and create 31 comic pages in 31 days.

2020

This was the year of coasters. I had tons of them as I was basically drawing on them every day to try and save my sanity after being stuck at home for more than half a year. By the time Inktober rolled around it was second nature to just wake up, roll out of bed and create several coaster drawings each day, one of which would be shared with an Inktober hashtag.

2019

My first year of Inktober. I was nervous, worried I wouldn’t be able to come up with something each day, or stick to drawing everyday for 31 days. But I did what I could to map out a small portion of my day to draw and post that drawing. What truly hooked me was seeing all the artists I followed posting up similar pieces and enjoying how everyone interpreted the daily prompts. I loved it when I felt original and strove harder to be more clever when I seemed to be one the same page as the masses. The world wide community that pops up every October to appreciate and create art is always extremely fun to take part in.
